Teaching your Little One to Sleep

Having your baby (or babies in my case) sleep through the night is absolutely life-changing! I know what it is like to be in the depths of sleep deprivation and trying to just get through the night. Night after night, and day after day.

I am here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be this way, I promise. When my twins were roughly 9 months old, our sleep situation was dire. It was to the point that some nights I was ending up in the car driving my twins around at 2am, 5am, you name it, trying to just get them to go to sleep. To top it all off, during some of these terrible nights, my toddler would also wake up and then my husband and I would be outnumbered in the amount of kids we were trying to get to sleep and we literally couldn’t do it anymore. This is when I made the decision that we needed to get professional help and it was the best decision I could have ever made. After researching various sleep companies, we hired a sleep coach through Little Winks Sleep company and it was worth every single penny! Our twins are now amazing sleepers!

I cannot recommend Little Winks Sleep company enough! They have such a gentle baby centered approach and will never ever ask you to leave your baby to cry it out. Yes, there may be some crying because crying is how our babies communicate to us, but you do not need to leave your baby to cry themselves to sleep.

Little Winks Sleep has 4 amazing courses to help you in each stage of babyhood depending on where you and your baby are at:

Nurturing Newborn Sleep (0 – 12 Week Olds) – This course shows you how to lay the foundation of good healthy sleep skills in your newborn. I highly recommend taking it when in your 3rd trimester so you are ready with all the best newborn sleep knowledge, and then rewatching it when needed throughout the newborn stage.

Sleep Sleep Baby Hybrid (12 – 16 Week Olds) – A perfect course for once you are past the newborn stage but now dealing with all the sleep changes that come at the 3-4 month old age. At this age, babies are going through huge shifts in their sleeping patterns and really waking up to the world around them. This course will guide you through all those changes and how to encourage independent sleep skills with your 3-4 month old.

Sleep Sleep Baby (4 – 18 Months) – Perhaps you have gotten through the newborn stage and the 3-4 month old stage but now as your baby is getting older, they are alert to everything going on around them, and this is when sleep can get really really tricky. This is what happened with my twins, they began to protest sleep, HARD! If you and your baby are struggling with sleep, I can’t recommend this course enough! By the end of the course, you will be able to put your baby in their crib while they are wide awake and they will fully put themselves to sleep with the independent sleep skills they have learned. Life-changing for you and your baby!

Taking On Toddler Sleep (18 Months – 5 Years Old) – Toddler sleep is a whole different ball game. This course will help you sort out any toddler sleep issues. If you are in the thick of terrible toddler sleep, I see you, I have been in your shoes with my oldest. Toddler’s need to be seen and heard when they are learning a new skill and this course will do just that while helping you to teach your toddler to be an awesome sleeper!

Little Winks Sleep also offers 1:1 coaching, which is what we did with our twins. I wanted a coach to help walk me through what to do with gently sleep training 9 month old twins, it just felt like too much to take on by myself and I needed a professional’s expertise. Our sleep coach was so understanding and reassuring through the whole 3 week process. We needed 3 weeks with our coach because my twins had to learn their independent sleep skills in separate rooms first, and then we brought them back together so they learned how to sleep in a shared room.

If your little one is struggling with sleep, I first recommend taking one of the courses listed above and then if you decide to hire a sleep coach after taking the course, Little Winks Sleep will deduct the price of the course from the price of hiring a sleep coach.

As I said above, your sleep and your baby’s sleep is so important. We can’t live in a prolonged state of sleep deprivation, it is not good for anybody. I believe teaching our baby’s how to be awesome sleepers is a skill worth investing money in. I am not one to spend money on fancy baby products, I am quite conservative with what I spend my money on, but a sleep course is a necessity in my opinion.
