I have travelled and stayed overnight with my babies in various locations. I like to be prepared as much as possible to make our time away from home a smooth transition for my kiddos. Here is a list of products I have found very useful to have when we are traveling outside of our own home. There are a few gold nuggets in this list that you may have not heard of before!

Baby Car Mirror
Let’s start with how you are getting to your destination! For us, it usually includes a longer drive in the car (check out my blog post, “Car Travel Products that I Love for Kids & Toddlers!“). If I am driving in the car with my kids, I want to be able to see what they are doing, so a baby car mirror for any rear-facing chid is a must-have for me. I suggest getting one that is soft sided so that it is not a concern if god forbid there was a collision.
Pack N Play
If there isn’t a crib where you are travelling too, then you are going to need a sleep space for your baby. I have used Pack N Play’s with all 3 of my babies and I love how quick and simple they are to assemble and disassemble. We travelled to visit family for my twins first Christmas and they were still sleeping in a bassinet at that point, so I used the bassinet attachment in the Pack N Play and it worked really well. ** I do not use the mobile attachment, as that is a distraction to your baby when they are trying to sleep!
Pack N Play Mattress
This is an additional purchase to your Pack N Play, but I highly recommend it because it makes sleeping in a Pack N Play much more comfortable for your baby!
Pack N Play Mattress Sheet
Tip! Use this sheet at home first, or at least keep it in your bed for a couple of nights beforehand so that it smells like home for your baby when they are sleeping in a different location.
Fold-up Rocking Chair
I know some may find this overkill, but hear me out, if you are travelling and your baby is used to being rocked to sleep. Then this chair is a lifesaver! It folds up so easily and it folds up so compact!
Sound Machine
All 3 of my kids sleep with a sound machine at home and I do believe it makes sleeping in different locations easier for them because they have the same sleep noise as they do at home. This sound machine does have a battery so you don’t have to always have it plugged in, but I would recommend plugging it in overnight since the battery won’t last a complete 12 hours.
Baby Monitor that does NOT use Wi-Fi
It was very important for me to buy baby monitors that does not use wifi, for a few reasons. One of them being, it makes using them when travelling so much easier as we don’t need to worry about an internet connection. Which is especially important if the location you are travelling to does not have internet and/or good reception.
Camera Clamp Mount
I absolutely love this camera mount! This is a mount you can secure your camera (for your baby monitor) on and clamp on to so many places! It can be difficult finding a place to put your camera that will properly show your baby when travelling, but with this camera clamp that is no longer an issue because it literally clamps so easily to so many surfaces. I have used the top of a closet door and it worked perfectly! This clamp is extremely sturdy and made of aluminum alloy and stainless steel. Once clamped, you can fully move your camera around with a 360° rotation to turn the monitor in any direction!
Extension Cord
Tip! Bring an extension cord just in case the outlet is far from where you need to hang the camera for your baby monitor or where you need to plug your sound machine in.
SlumberPod
Full disclosure, I do not own a SlumberPod, but I wish I did! I can’t count the amount of times I have heard people raving about how well the SlumberPod works, and I would love to purchase one but is just not realistic for me since I would need 2 (twins) and we are also nearing the end of needing absolute darkness for my twins to sleep since they are getting older.
Garbage Bags & Painters Tape
Since I do not own a SlumberPod, I always travel with extra garbage bags and painters tape so that I can black out whichever room my babies are sleeping in. Yes, I have gotten my fair share of weird looks over the years when I black out a room with garbage bags but honestly I don’t care, because it has made a dark environment for my babies to sleep which is so important for a good nap and a good nights sleep.
Pop N Sit Chair
Once your baby is eating solids, this Pop N Sit chair is a game changer! It is folds open so easily, has it’s own tray, is sturdy to place on the ground but it can also be quickly attached to a chair. I keep 2 Pop N Sit chairs in my van so if we are ever out and about and my twin boys need to eat, I can just pop these chairs open and they have the perfect spot to sit and eat. I have had numerous comments from family and friends about how great these chairs are when they see me whip them open and sit my boys down to eat within a few minutes!
Pop N Jump
If your at the in-between stage of babyhood, where your baby is not content laying on the floor but also is not mobile yet, then this Pop N Jump is so helpful when travelling (and when at home!). It pops open super easily (just make sure to lock the legs), collapses down quickly, has 3 adjustable height options, has a shade for sun protection when outdoors, and comes with a bag for easy transportation. You can also add your own toys to it using the little loops on the top!
I hope you found this list of baby travel products helpful! I know how difficult travel can be with babies and I hope these products help make your time away from your own home, a little more seamless and a little more enjoyable.
